A Review for the Well-Read Learner.
You know that creativity and inspiration comes from reading well and reading widely.
Inspiration
We connect readers to inspirational ideas and stories. “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” William Butler Yeats.
All learning begins with curiosity.
Thanks for joining us on the journey!

My name is Jim. I am an educator and writer dedicated to finding creative solutions to challenging social problems.
As educators, we know how challenging it is to find the time to juggle the ever-growing list of responsibilities and still help students make real-world connections to the curriculum. With this blog, I want to create a community that bridges the gap between the university level research and the high school classroom. I am trying to help promote literacy by providing important background knowledge and relevance.I also just want to share really cool stuff that will help ignite your passion for learning.
After a disastrous start at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, I attended Schoolcraft College in Livonia and turned my life around. I am so grateful for the teachers and opportunities I had there. I graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit with a degree in Psychology and Oakland University with a Master’s Degree in Counseling, in the Mental Health Specialization. I am a certified secondary teacher in English and Social Studies, a National Certified Counselor, and a Bachelors Level Licensed Social Worker.
I have been employed in foster care and community mental health agencies and public schools, presented on educational and mental health at local workshops and a state level conference; played in rock bands, published poetry and am passionate about learning. I enjoy reading, being a dad, walking in the woods and yoga. Email me at jmillerwords at gmail dot com
